- This ancient art has its roots in Rajasthan and Gujarat. Block Printing involves the creation of beautiful designs which are first made on wooden blocks.
- These are then filled with different colours and then stamped on different fabrics or paper.
- This department was opened in 1984 at Panvel. There is a trained supervisor teaching the women the skills of this art.
- The printing process is completely hand done, from the initial step of washing and preparation of dyes, to the printing, drying and ironing of the fabric.
- The printed fabric is then passed on to the tailoring department to be made up into items such as bedspreads, tablecloths, clothing and bags.
- Items like gift bags, gift wrapping paper and cards and envelopes are very tastefully created.
