Tailoring

  • This department was the very first foundation of WIT.
  • At the start, Kamila Tyabji bought material from Bombay market, took it home, cut it into lengths for sari petticoats and then gave it to local women to take away and stitch in their homes.
  • After a few years, the project had flourished and expanded and moved to the present premises at Panvel and Mahim in Mumbai.
  • There are two units, one based at Panvel and one at Mahim. Each unit is run by a supervisor who oversees the entire production process. This includes the cutting, sewing, and final quality checks before the products are ready for sale.
  • The supervisor trains the girls who may work under her until they are skilled enough to take the material home and work on their own.
  • Our online shop shows the full range of products which can be purchased online and delivered to your doorstep.
