This department was opened in 1984. There is a trained supervisor who trains the women with the help of one of the Board Members. In addition, workshops are provided on the premises by visiting faculty so that skills are updated and extended; these courses are also available to local women whether or not they are employed by WIT. The complete printing process is completed by hand from the initial step of washing and preparation of dyes, to the printing, drying and ironing of the fabric. The printed fabric is then passed on to the tailoring department to be made up into items such as bedspreads, tablecloths, clothing and bags.
